Following the night of my previous image "Mono Lake Northern Lights" I saw there was potentially yet another chance to see the aurora at lower than normal latitudes. I decided to drive up to Emerald Bay at Lake Tahoe that afternoon since it is only 2 & a half hours from us here in Mammoth & hope for the best. A strong substorm materialized just after dusk with pillars dancing across the nortthern sky... lasting roughly 10-15 minutes before going dead the rest of the night. Felt extremely blessed to experience this moment. I grew up going to Tahoe a lot & never thought I'd get to experience the aurora over such an iconic lake.
