In 2017, my grandfather was dying from cancer. On my last visit with him before he passed away, I was showing him around on Google Earth & Maps. He was astounded that you could just scroll around and see anywhere in the world. Him & my grandma lived in the Sierra Foothills for over 40 years, so I was no stranger to the range. Yet somehow, I had never driven on Highway 395. He started scrolling around the area and telling me about all the amazing places I had to go see. A month later, I drove 395 on the way to his funeral, and instantly knew I was going to call this place home one day. I moved here a couple years later and never looked back.
